The City of London Corporation is encouraging Square Mile businesses to join its Clean City Awards Scheme, which recognises firms leading the way on sustainability.

Companies who become a member can apply to win a prestigious Clean City Award at an annual ceremony.

Businesses who join the scheme, now in its 30th year, can access exclusive resource packs and workshops to help them cut carbon emissions and boost their environmental performance.

Chairman of the City Corporation’s Port Health and Environmental Services Committee, Mary Durcan, said, “We are here to help City businesses improve their environmental performance and get recognised for their work.

“Cutting carbon emissions and protecting our planet is the right thing to do – and it makes business sense, too.

“Whether companies are eliminating single-use plastic, improving recycling, or keeping the streets clean – we want to celebrate them so that others can follow their lead.”

Entries to the awards open later this year and only Clean City Awards Scheme members are eligible to apply.

The City Corporation’s Climate Action Strategy commits the organisation to achieve net zero carbon emissions in its own operations by 2027 and its investments and supply chain by 2040 – and to support the achievement of net zero for the whole Square Mile by the same year.
