Deliveroo and Gopuff team up to deliver grocery products across the UK

Deliveroo, the UK’s leading food delivery platform, has today announced a partnership with instant commerce company Gopuff to expand its grocery delivery offering to thousands of customers across the UK.

The move will see over 3,000 of Gopuff’s wide range of everyday essentials added to Deliveroo, expanding access to rapid grocery delivery for millions of customers across the country.

This month, Deliveroo customers will be able to enjoy Gopuff’s groceries across the UK – from Bristol and Liverpool, to Newcastle and Manchester – all in as little as 20 minutes.

The partnership offers users access to Gopuff’s essential groceries – including fresh produce, soft drinks, and household items – as demand for rapid and reliable grocery delivery grows.

This collaboration comes as Deliveroo’s research reveals rapid grocery delivery orders accounted for 11% of Deliveroo’s revenue in 2022, driving its expansion into on-demand essentials. In October last year, Deliveroo HOP launched its first bricks-and-mortar grocery store on New Oxford Street in London, in partnership with Morrisons, with customers able to shop in-store by ordering through digital kiosks; ordering via the Deliveroo app for collection at the store; and for delivery within minutes.

Gopuff, which just launched its Ads platform in the UK last week, has seen order volumes increase nearly 20% since January. As part of its continued commitment to providing great value for our customers, Gopuff offers 200+ branded staples at lower-than-Tesco Express prices, and customers save even more with the “Morrisons Corner,” which provides an own-label value alternative to branded products.

Last year, Deliveroo’s research revealed that two in five (40%) UK shoppers buy groceries once every two to three days, bucking the age-old ‘weekly shop’ trends. The growth in people wanting on demand groceries is driven by younger people, with almost half (42%) of 18-34 year olds ranking convenience as the number one determining factor when purchasing groceries.

Suzy McClintock, Deliveroo’s Grocery and Retail VP said, “The rapid grocery delivery market is not going anywhere – since 2020, we’ve seen a growing demand for on-demand groceries and other essentials  from our customers. Through this partnership with Gopuff, we will look to expand the selection of fresh food, drinks, and everyday essentials that we offer to customers.”

Alberto Menolascina, UK General Manager at Gopuff added, “As we continue to expand the Gopuff platform to create more seamless shopping experiences, we are excited to partner with Deliveroo to bring Gopuff’s leading fulfilment capabilities, unique assortment, affordable prices, and fast delivery to even more consumers across the UK.”

Deliveroo’s existing grocery and retail partners span Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, ASDA, Boots, OneStop, Majestic Wine and Whole Foods with more than 8000 sites across the UK and Ireland.
