Ryanair has said that the air traffic control failure last Monday has led to 63,000 passengers being affected.
The IT failure caused widespread disruption across the sector with thousands of passengers being left stranded and are out of pocket in some cases by thousands of pounds.
Ryanair said that on 28 and 29 August more than 350 flights were cancelled due to the air traffic control failure which led to over a quarter of all flights being cancelled to and from airports across the UK.
On Monday 28 August the National Air Traffic Services (Nats) announced that they were unable to process flight plans automatically which caused around a quarter of a million people having their travel plans wrecked.
The Irish carrier has said that the air traffic control failure has “still not been explained, and the chief executive of Ryanair Michael O’Leary said the disruption is “unacceptable.”
easyJet’s chief executive Johan Lundgren demanded that a “full independent review” to be launched to ensure that this “must not happen again.”
